I spent one summer playing it pretty hardcore online, and it's still a great party/LAN game, since it runs on every computer under the sun. It's pretty cheap to buy, and though the game is now 13 years old, it's still supported by Team17. Worms PS3 isn’t much of a game compared to Worms Armageddon. Comment on The Cranberries - Chicago 11.25.09 - Review by Dave http://jrtschopp.com/index/?p=566&cpage=1#comment-313 Dave Tue, 08 Dec 2009 17:01:12 +0000 http://jrtschopp.com/index/?p=566#comment-313 I generally thought they played well. The thing that bothered me the most was the sound quality. I was up at the orchestra level and I found it EXTREMELY hard to hear the words to any of the songs. The lead guitar sound was much louder then Dolores who obviously makes most of that band. I generally thought they played well. The thing that bothered me the most was the sound quality. Comment on Silent TS’ Iconic Movies of the ’00s by silentts http://jrtschopp.com/index/?p=455&cpage=1#comment-37 silentts Wed, 29 Apr 2009 22:35:01 +0000 http://jrtschopp.com/index/?p=455#comment-37 See, that's what I mean: "Transformers" was memorable for you because of your previous connection, in the same way the Spidey flicks were memorable for me because of my comic book background. These are the movies I think of for the decade, and I think a few years from now, the list will change greatly. And truthfully, I'm not 100% on board with Juno either, but it was one of the few movies that stood out to me for the last year or so, and thus ended up on the list. When I tolf her that I thought Transformers should replace it, she said it was as forgettable as Spider-Man. I'm also not 100% on board with Juno. "Shrek," while a damn fine flick in its own right, doesn't pop up in my mind when I think back on the decade. Neither does "Transformers," as much as I really wanted to put it on the list (and I did...I went back and forth on it). The problem with "Transformers" was, ultimately, apart from some awesome giant robot fighting action, it was kind of forgettable, unless you're a Transformers fan. I'm really hoping that changes with the second one. Actually, I think for you, "Transformers" might be iconic because of the connection you had with it as a geek. It's the same for Spidey and me. I geeked out the first time I saw him swinging through New York as "live action" and it left a big, geeky imprint in my mind, hence its iconic status on my personal list. "Transformers" never did that for me. It was a game-changer for kids films that appeal to adults and has had an impact (good or bad) on what has been released since then. I'd also like to make an argument for Transformers, both 1 & 2 (even though we haven't seen 2 yet). Great? Not really. But it sure satisfied the latent desires of grownup kids to see their childhood toys come to life on the big screen ... And they waited long enough for the technology to do it justice. So, in my opinion, what comes off your list? The Harry Potter series. Harry Potter always will be best remembered as the boy wizard who got kids (and adults) reading again. The films are entertaining, but were no match for the books. Major parts were left out and they felt rushed at times. LOTR did it right by letting the films be long to tell the tale the right way. Yes, Harry and gang will be an icon of the '00s, but for print, not film. And yes, I know, the first three books were of the '90s. And Spider-Man 2. Sorry, Spidey, I loved ya as a kid and still have a ton of your comics stashed somewhere ... But your films have been largely forgettable. The franchise's troubles stick in my mind more and make it easy to lump the Spidey flicks in with X-Men and FF. I think Shrek should have a home on that list.
